Organization

**I wrote this blog like two weeks ago and was waiting on the picture. I finally took it!**
Although I’m not the best at upkeep when it comes to organization, I truly love to have things organized and clean. At the very least, it is necessary to have a place for everything..even if not everything is always in it’s place.
Before this last weekend one of the sore spots in our house for me was the girls’ bedroom closet. When we first moved in a bunch of stuff landed in their room, most of it belonged, some of it did not. In my quest for getting the house livable, things that didn’t have a place yet, got stuck in their closet which is by far the biggest in the house. Prior to the weekend, the closet looked like this.
But on Saturday with the help of Josh, we cleaned everything out of the closet, wiped down all the cobwebs and dust, gave it a clean fresh coat of paint and then put up the closet organizer from their old room. And now the closet looks like this:

Biggest Idiot Award

So if there is an award for the biggest idiot, today I would have earned it! Let me explain.

Over this past weekend since it was so nice outside, we decided to have a family work outside day. Josh worked on stacking the remaining wood we had delivered a few weeks ago and I decided to start working on getting the yard sort of cleaned up and move some plants around. The former owners of our house years ago had planted some raised garden beds in the main part of the yard. We are not going to be using raised garden beds and want to take advantage of all the yard space to make room for our kids to play..anyway the garden beds had to go. Along with the random plants that still remained. This was my project for the day. Those of you who know me at all, know that I love projects. What you also may know about me is that I get very focused on completing a project once it has been started..I forget to eat sometimes I get so motivated to finish. Unfortunately for me the yard project is going to be a several-weekend project. The last thing that I attempted to do before dark approched on Sunday was to remove this insanely large ivy plant that is in the middle of the yard. Even with Josh’s help, we could not remove it. Josh suggested burning it.

Well, the last couple days I have been dying to get outside and get this thing done. But the past few days have been windy and of course, to err on the side of safety I waited.

So today I decided was the day. It rained last night so everything around there was moist and it wasn’t windy. Perfect. Unfortuantely for me, the thing would not burn! So I got the brilliant idea to douse it with gasoline. Now, here I must point out that I have a brother in law who is a firefighter. Mike, if you by chance read my blog, you may want to stop reading at this point. I put a few dry pieces of wood in there and poured gasoline on it. Then I lit it. As you can well imagine, there was a huge woosh as the fire blew up in my face. I screamed and ran from the fire. Then not knowing whether or not I was on fire, I stopped and fell to the ground and since it was wet, I got my hands wet and rubbed my face. My eyebrows were still there, but my hair felt really funny. I had horrifying visions of having the front part of my hair completely singed off. I ran to the bathroom as fast as I could safely get there to check out the damage. There were a lot of singed pieces of hair, but nothing completely gone like I’d feared. I took a brush outside and brushed it all out of my hair. Then I hopped into the shower and shampooed, shampooed, conditioned, shampooed and conditioned. Anyway, everything is okay, I’m fine, and my hair is okay I think..(it’s still wet) But I may have to go tomorrow and get a haircut.

So, today I earn the biggest idiot award. I’m glad that God protects us from even ourselves sometimes.

Most boring post ever

So today I’m posting about the most exciting subject ever…Food. A few months ago, I tried something new at Baja Fresh. The Nacho Burrito. I really liked it. Ever since being pregnant with the girls, I’ve become a lot more into spicy food than I used to be. Anyway, I’ve been wanting one of those burritos for a while, but don’t make it out to Baja Fresh very often. So I decided to experiment and make up my own Nacho Burrito. We had them for dinner tonight, and they were fantastic, so I thought I’d share the recipe.

Spanish rice
Black beans (you can use refried, too, but I like black)
Shredded cheese
Chicken
Broken up nacho chips

This is it as far as ingredients. Here is how I prepared the chicken: I cut up chicken breast into strips and cut the strips into bite sized pieces. I browned the chicken strips. Then I added 1/2 a bag of taco seasoning and 1/2 cup water. (I didn’t have very much chicken, so if you had a lot of chicken you could just follow the back of the package.) I also added to the taco seasoning about 3 spoonfulls of canned jalapenos. This was pretty spicy so you could knock it down a bit. I simmered this for about 20 minutes.

Take all of these ingredients and put it into a large tortilla. So, so good! You can serve with salsa and/or sour cream.

So that’s it! The most boring post ever! But maybe it will inspire someone for dinner.

Oh, side note: Today I finally finished cleaning from Josh’s surprise party. 4 days. It took me 4 days to clean. Seriously.

What.A.Week.

So much to blog and so little time…or so the saying goes. Well, actually I just made that up.

Last weekend Josh and I got to go away for a much, much needed weekend. A whole weekend free of children and arguing and poopy diapers. Aaaahhh…We went to Seattle for the weekend and got a fabulous deal online for a 4 star hotel. We’ve never stayed in a 4 star hotel before..except maybe once with Rescue..Anyway, we got to go to a movie, go shopping (alone!), do some touristy things in Seattle, all in all the perfect weekend away. The only bad thing about the weekend was that we wished for another day..Reality came back too quickly.

From practically the moment we returned home, I began really planning for Josh’s surprise birthday party. I had started some of the ground work for the party in the previous weeks, but most of the work was reserved for after our weekend away since that took a LOT of planning. So starting Monday, I started kicking the plans into high gear. All week long was full of secret grocery shopping, secret planning and emailing/calling friends and family, secret child care arranging (for the grocery shopping) and lots of secret keeping from my husband. Since I’m not normally one to keep secrets from my husband, having to keep secrets from him and be ever careful of every conversation that I had with him during the week took a lot of energy. And since I have a highly attentive husband it made it even more difficult. Last night was the party and it turned out really well. There weren’t as many people as I would have liked, but there were several and Josh was blessed by all the people coming and all the work that I put in. After the party, Josh’s brother Jay worked hard to put together an all night xbox party for Josh. All in all, I think it was a great party for Josh..a weekend away with me, shooting guns (the diversion to get him out of the house) a surprise party and xbox. I don’t know about him, but I am partied out.

Another thing that has been going on this week is getting our refinance finalized. It has taken a lot of time, but we get to sign on Monday and are both excited!

This morning at about 9am, after getting the girls up and getting them dressed, I thought that I would wake Josh up with some cute girls climbing on him..so we all went upstairs and I piled the girls on the bed. Considering that Josh had gotten home around the hour of 2am, he wasn’t initially joyous about being woken up by this method. But after a few minutes he was fine and then decided that we needed to get all the kids ready and go to the zoo. I did think that he was a bit crazy, but I consented and we started the process of getting all 5 kids in appropriate attire and loading everyone up in the car. Now, here I must point out that I don’t particularly like the zoo. I’m truly not all that fond of animals and to me, the zoo is just a lot of walking around with crowds of people, which I also highly dislike, trying to look through tiny windows to view animals that are sleeping. And we do all this while trying to keep three babies happy by handing them food or picking them up periodically, as well as trying to keep track of 2 boys who insist on running ahead of mom and dad, and dart in front of people, causing tripping and rear-ending of strangers who are trying to keep track of their own kids who are a mile away doing the same thing and then glaring at us to keep track of our kids. Anyway, Josh told me this morning that it was supposed to be 53 degrees today..that sounded so warm to me compared to the 40’s that we’ve been having so I dressed in what I thought was appropriate for 53. Well, I totally under dressed and was freezing the whole time. In addition to everything else that I already complained about. Not only that, but we went at lunch time and I was hungry. One thing about being a mother of triplets that I haven’t quite gotten used to is all the attention that we get when we go out in public. At every exhibit we went to and everywhere in between there were people around us exclaiming, “Look! Triplets!” Or some other such comment. One lady actually asked, “Are they all triplets?” I came so close to saying, “No, only two of them.” But just like the good Christian that I am, I held my tongue. We were just as much of an exhibit as any of the animals. Needless to say, I did not have a good time. But Josh did and so did the boys and the girls seemed to be entertained. So I guess it was just me. Aren’t I the self-less mother and wife? (Heavy sarcasam)

All and all, I am tired and ready to get life back to normal. Whatever that means.

Sickness, vacation, refinancing..oh my! Oh yeah and remodeling!

It’s been a while since I blogged. Well, technically, I blogged last week, but I was waiting on a picture, and I’m still waiting. So the blog is still in my account, waiting unpublished. I must get that picture.

Anyway, we’ve had a lot going on this past week. It all started on Sunday night when I went in to check on the kids before going to bed. I realized that Adelynn had thrown up in her bed. So Josh and I changed her sheets and put her back to bed. In the morning when I went in to give them their milk there again was throw up in her bed. And she looked really pale. However she was in good spirits..go figure. And throughout the rest of the day, she seemed to get her color back and feel better. That night at about 2am, I woke up with a stomach ache and needing to use the bathroom. So trying to deny the stomach ache, I went downstairs. When suddenly I realized that I no longer was going to be able to deny the stomach ache..I threw up. And that begun one of the worst 24 hours of my life that I can remember. It was just a torturous amount of pain in my stomach with barely any let up. I couldn’t move without feeling like I need to throw up. It was awful. Thankfully, Josh was able to work from home in the morning and then went and picked up his mom and she came and took care of the house while I was in the midst of misery. Thanks, Donna! Later that day, Kynden threw up a couple times and just didn’t look like she felt good. Yesterday morning Kynden woke up with a terribly poopy diaper and a bottom that looked like it had a rug burn. This morning upon walking into the girls’ room I was greeted with more throw up in Kynden’s bed and poop all down the inside of her legs. Oh the joy of parenthood! I’ll spare you any more details. I guess some people may consider my blog a good dose of birthcontrol some days.

In other news Josh and I have scheduled a weekend away next weekend. On Friday the 8th Josh is going to be turning 30 and we’re going to Seattle for the weekend. At least we have the hotel lined up..babysitting is turning out to be a little more difficult that I thought. It is really hard to coordinate getting babysitting for 5 kids for 3 days and 2 nights!

The other thing that has been taking up a lot of time this week is that we have decided to refinance our house. When we bought the house the rates weren’t very good and we had the idea of refinancing right off the bat. Well, rates dropped significantly last week and so we jumped on the train and locked in and we’re going to be saving a lot of money each month, which is fantastic. Unfortunately though, it takes some time and effort to save money..With all the financial info that I’ve had to find and send along with getting the house clean for the appraiser to come yesterday, it has been a lot of work at an unfortunate time. But it will be worth it.

Oh yeah..the other thing that has been going on this week is redecorating the boys’ room. We started over the weekend on Saturday and worked all weekend. But since I chose things to do in there that were very time consuming, it is still not finished. Hopefully this weekend we will finish it up and then I’ll blog about it with pictures. It is turning out really cute.

Well, the girls are eating breakfast right now and are starting to get fussy and wanting out so I’d better sign off. But there’s an update of what’s been going on with us!
